Due to the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the disruptions caused to in-classroom teaching, we have decided to temporarily suspend the Master of Arts in Game Design at IULM University. That means that we will not be offering this program in 2022. Nonetheless, several courses, including GAME WRITING and GAME SCENES, have been incorporated in existing B.A.s, M.A.s, and Masters at IULM University, and we will soon debut new game-related initiatives.

APPLICATION PROCESS

We are looking for inquisitive minds and creative types. Candidates are expected to be highly motivated, curious, experimental, self-driven, and ambitious. This program was conceived for students seeking to cultivate a personal vision, gain the skills, and develop meaningful, collaborative relationships and networks within the ever expanding practice of game design.

Please note that the number of available spots is limited. 

Graduates in Art, Media Studies, Communication, Graphic and Visual Design, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Architecture or candidates who have gained significant professional experience in the field can apply.

All courses are taught in English and students must be proficient to participate.

Applicants will be admitted upon a selection process based on:

a) A letter of application outlining scholarly and creative background as well as current and future research plans. Student are encouraged to articulate their rationale for choosing a digital game or interactive art as a medium of expression;

b) One-page curriculum vitae detailing skills, achievements, and previous experiences;

c) An updated portfolio of the most significant work in any field or discipline (writing, art, design, performance, etc.); 

d) A project proposal for a game or an interactive media experience (500 words max);

e) An interview with the Program Manager and/or selected Faculty members in person or via Skype.

Applications must be sent via email to the Academic Office at IULM University. 

We strongly advise students from non-EU states to apply as soon as possible to verify their eligibility and request a student visa in a timely fashion.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS

Italy is a Schengen member state (along with Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland). Anyone entering Italy from within the Schengen Area needs only a valid passport or some other official document issued for travelling purposes. Students coming from outside of the Schengen Area will need a passport and, in most cases, a study visa. FINANCIAL AIDS & SCHOLARSHIPS

For the 2020-2021 academic year, the M.A. program in Game Design at IULM University offers 3 (three) scholarships each amounting to €3000 (three thousand euros). The scholarships will be awarded based on an evaluation of their performance in the Program by the entire faculty. Each scholarship covers approximately one third of the overall tuition fees (for Italian and EU students). Meals, accommodation, and travel expenses are not included. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be properly enrolled in the M.A in Game Design 2020-2021 at IULM University, in good academic standing, and with tuition fees paid in full.
